Topeak Ridecase overview: bike mobile phone holder for handlebar, stem and Ahead headset
- Topeak Ridecase: Bike mobile phone holder for handlebar, stem and Ahead headset: The basic set from Topeak is the Ridecase. Included is a custom-fit iPhone case and cradle. The special feature of the bracket: It can be flexibly mounted on the Ahead headset, on the stem or on the bicycle handlebar. Thus, this holder is one of the most flexible bike cell phone holders. If you are still undecided and want to experiment where your smartphone should be attached best, the Topeak Ridecase is suitable. I present all the features of the Topeak Ridecase in detail in this article.
The most popular is probably the attachment of the smartphone with the holder on the bicycle handlebars.

- Panocomputer Mount – Aero Road Bike Cellphone Mount for the Handlebar: This bike cellphone mount fixes the smartphone in an aero position directly in front of the bike handlebar. This makes for a particularly tidy look in the “bike cockpit”. This type of mount is especially popular with road cyclists and I have tested it for you in detail. If you want to navigate with your smartphone on your bike, you need a secure smartphone mount to attach it to your bike. Topeak has a mount for the iPhone and for other models in the program.
Topeak Ridecase Omni: The Ridecase Omni is a universal bike phone holder. Thus, any smartphone with a screen diagonal between 4.5 and 6.5 inches can be attached to the Topeak mobile phone mount. The attachment is also possible here on the handlebar, on the stem and on the cap of the Ahead headset. I tested the mount with my ZTE Axon 9 Pro with 6.2 inch display diagonal. Ridecase Mount
The Topeak Ridecase is a bike hany mount for the bike handlebar, stem and Ahead headset. The mobile phone holder can therefore be attached to the bike in many different ways and in the most sensible places.
The scope of delivery includes the mounting material and the Ridecase cover for your smartphone. In my case for an iPhone.
The Ridecase cover is made of high quality, fits perfectly for the iPhone and is not too thick. Thus, the cover can also remain on the smartphone in everyday life. If the phone is inserted into the case, then you have a good grip and the smartphone is, thanks to light rubber coating, secure in the hand.
The Topeak Ridecase is built like a bumper case: The edges of the phone case stand slightly over. Thus, the touch display is protected from minor drops and the screen can still be operated perfectly. The case fully protects the back and corners of the smartphone.
All important ports are included and there is a recess for the smartphone camera: Photos can still be taken wonderfully.
There are either cutouts for the button on the side of the smartphone or the corresponding buttons are clearly visible on the case. This means that you can still operate the keys perfectly. The silent switch is a bit more complicated: You have to flip it with your fingernail or fingertip.
There are cutouts for the charging port at the bottom of the iPhone and the speakers are also exposed – just as it should be.
At the back of the Topeak Ridecase there is a fold-out smartphone stand. You can easily fold it out to position the smartphone in portrait or landscape mode. Very handy to watch a video for example. When not in use, the smartphone stand lies flat against the case and is barely noticeable.

Ridecase on Ahead cap
The attachment to the Ahead cap is secure, and particularly inconspicuous. Especially fans of tidy looks and clean bike cockpits will like this bike phone holder. There are also adjustment options, for optimal readability of the smartphone display. I’ll get to that in a minute. Of course, iPhones can be attached with the Topeak Ridecase cover. All other smartphones between 4.5 and 6.5 inches, can be attached with the Ridecase Omni.
The Allen key for mounting is included and even for inexperienced the mounting is done within 1 to 2 minutes:
To begin, remove the cap from the original Ahead headset. You can use your own tool, e.g. from your bicycle multitool. Otherwise, the necessary Allen key is also included:
- Remove Ahead cap and replace with the Topeak bracket
- Tighten the screws and the bracket sits securely on the bike
Now you can slide the smartphone including the Topeak Ridecase from above onto the bike phone holder. A clearly audible click signals the safe engagement. The ride can start right now! Your smartphone is reliably held on the bike – even off-road. The mount itself is held securely by the Ahead screw and the smartphone itself holds absolutely reliable on the Topeak phone mount.
The angle of the bicycle mobile phone holder can be adjusted individually:
- From almost horizontal and very flat
- Pointing upwards to almost 90 degrees so that the smartphone is almost upright on the Ahead headset
Thus, the smartphone can be placed at almost any angle and best readability of the touchscreen is ensured. An angle roughly parallel to the stem is what I find most pleasing in terms of readability and appearance.
To unlock the cradle, press down on the small lever on the cradle and pull the smartphone upwards. I consider an unintentional opening of the lock to be almost impossible. So you don’t have to worry about your precious smartphone 😉
Switching between portrait and landscape mode is as easy as pie: Rotate the smartphone hard to the left or right to change the orientation of the smartphone.

The Topeak Ridecase can also be attached to the bicycle handlebar: The mobile phone holder is attached to the handlebar with a plastic clamp. The bracket is tightened again with an Allen key. Of course, the necessary fastening material and tools are included in the scope of delivery.
If the plastic clamp is tightened accordingly, then the Topeak mobile phone holder holds securely on the bike handlebar – even off-road. However, the plastic clamp on the handlebar does not look very elegant.
Positive: also with the bike handlebar mount from Topeak, the angle can be adjusted as desired. This ensures optimal readability of the smartphone.
The orientation of the smartphone can also be changed within seconds and without tools: For this purpose, the smartphone is simply turned vigorously in one direction. It then snaps into the desired position.

Ridecase on bike stem
Mounting on the stem is also possible. The mobile phone holder is tightened again with a plastic clamp on the bicycle. To ensure a really secure hold, an Allen key is used for tightening. The solution is not the most elegant visually. In return, you can rely on a really secure grip on the road and also in rough terrain.

With the Topeak Ridecase Omni, smartphones with a screen diagonal between 4.5 and 6.5 inches are made compatible with the Topeak Ridecase phone mount. I tested the Topeak Ridecase Omni with a ZTE Axon 9 Pro with a 6.2-inch screen diagonal.
Equipped with the Omnicase, the smartphone can be attached to the Ridecase bike mount. Thus, the installation on the handlebar, on the stem and on the Ahead headset nothing stands in the way.
How well does the Topeak Ridecase Omni work?
- The smartphone is inserted into the holder and held securely by the sturdy rubbers at the top and bottom.
- The rubber bands grip the smartphone at the edges. The design is intended to keep the camera, ports and sensors clear whenever possible.
The Topeak Ridecase Omni is built quite flat and the smartphone is only held where it is absolutely necessary:
- The touchscreen can still be operated flawlessly in the center.
- However, the margins at the top and bottom are partly hidden: This makes pulling down the status bar on the right, for example, awkward.
Which ports remain free and which are covered depends on your smartphone model:
- For example, on my ZTE Axon 9 pro, the main camera and the fingerprint reader on the back are covered. The same is partially true for the speaker.
- At least the charging port is free and thus the smartphone can be charged via powerbank during bike navigation.
Due to the covered camera and sensors, the Ridecase Omni can be used well for bicycle navigation. In everyday life, you are more likely to remove the case.
As usual, the smartphone is pushed onto the Topeak mount from above and immediately snaps into place. Further above I have already shown the mounting of the bracket on the handlebar, on the stem and on the Ahead headset. This is exactly where the smartphone can be attached to the Ridecase Omni.

Panocomputer Mount is the name of the road bike mount from Topeak. This type of mount is also called an out front mount or aero mount. The Panocomputer Mount can be attached to a bicycle handlebar with a diameter of 31.8 mm. This is the largest diameter for bicycle handlebars. An adapter for other handlebar diameters is not included.
The Aero mount is especially popular with road cyclists and offers several advantages:
- The smartphone is positioned directly in front of the handlebar and thus ideally in the field of vision
- In this position, the smartphone is relatively well protected from sweat.
The mounting of the Panocomputer Mount is also fast, easy and takes place as usual: Within one minute the mount is attached to the handlebar.
- For this, only one screw must be tightened with an Allen key
- You don’t have to worry about stability: once tightened, the road bike mount holds securely on the handlebars
Even with a heavy smartphone loaded nothing wobbles here.
The smartphone is pushed into the holder from above. A clearly audible click signals that the smartphone is locked into the holder.
View from the side: The smartphone lies nice and flat in front of the bike handlebar. The angle of the bracket can also be adjusted upwards and downwards. Aero mounts are usually mounted almost horizontally on the bike handlebars.
In a smartphone bike mount I prefer a slightly upward inclined mounting of the smartphone to be able to read the display better but that is also a matter of taste.
On my Bombtrack Beyond, the Topeak Case rests directly on the bike stem. Unfortunately, this scratches the Topeak Ridecase and probably arise in the long run scratches on the stem bolts. It’s probably quite different for other bikes. When you buy the Panocomputer bike cell phone mount, you should pay attention to it right after you buy it.
The smartphone isheld in portrait orientation in the phone mount. The landscape orientation is also possible but you’ll have to use tools to screw it in short.
GoPro mount
A GoPro or similar action camera can be attached to the bottom of the Panocomputer Mount. This position doesn’t offer the best perspective but at least your actioncam is then ready to use at any time and so I find this function ingenious! Pragmatism often beats perfectionism! Unfortunately, the Panocomputer Mount locking screw can easily get lost (happened to me pretty quickly). Therefore, you need to be careful when mounting your Action Cam. The necessary screw is also found on many other GoPro mounts and can therefore be easily replaced.

Mounted on the cap of the Ahead headset, the Topeak Ridecase is an excellent stable and mobile phone holder for the bike. Thanks to the adjustable angle of the holder, the smartphone display can be read perfectly. If you own an iPhone and a bike with an Ahead headset, then the Topeak Ridecase mount is recommended. With the Topeak bike mobile phone holder, your smartphone will stay firmly attached to the handlebar.
With the attachment with the plastic clamp (stem and handlebars) and the Omni-Case there is still room for improvement. After all, there are many options for mounting and with the Omnicase a universal bike phone holder.
Especially interesting for road bike riders or for fans of a tidy look is the Panocomputer Mount and the Ridecase Center Mount.
Topeak Ridecase experience and summary
The case is snug, grippy and chic. This means that the Ridecase can also be used as an everyday cover. You even still have the handy cell phone stand.
The smartphone is reliably held on the bike and mounted on the Ahead cap, the look is also very tidy.
