Abandoned Water Park – Ho Thuy Tien Lake Abandoned Water Park in Hue

In December 2018, I will be cycling from Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) to Hanoi. A bike tour once through Vietnam! In the process, I’ll create a bike travel doc for you.

Bike tour through Vietnam: Welcome to the abandoned water park near Hue! A real LOST PLACE in Vietnam. You will find the abandoned water park about 10km away from Hue and it is easily accessible by motorbike or bicycle.

You’re a true Urbex so Urban Exploration fan? Then the Ho Thuy Tien Water Park is the place for you! The water park was built a few years ago. The construction cost was more than UDS 3 million.

Apparently an outright misplanning, because the water park was very quickly closed again.

Since then, the water park has lain fallow and nature is currently reclaiming it.

The highlight of the park is clearly the giant dragon in the middle. There are also aquariums, slides, buildings and much more to discover!

As a Vietnam travel tip, I can definitely recommend the park to you!

If you are in Vietnam and in Hue then just search for “Ho Thuy Tien Lake Abandoned Water Park” on Google Maps.

  • Bikepacking Vietnam Part 1: By plane and bike to Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon). First assemble the bike and then explore the city.
  • Bikepacking Vietnam Part 2: The Vietnam bike trip starts now! I set off on my cyclocross and the adventure continues towards the coastal town of Nha Trang. The bike trip also takes me through the mountain town of Da Lat.
  • Bikepacking Vietnam Part 3: Now the bike is abandoned at the station and with the night train I go to the former imperial city of Hue. The city is famous for the Hue Citadel (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The citadel resembles the forbidden city in China. In any case, the place is worth a visit!
  • Bikepacking Vietnam Part 4: A true dream for Urban Explorers! The water park, abandoned for many years, is located near Hue. Here you will experience a true Lost Place in Vietnam. The water park is also known as “Lost Place Hue – Ho Thuy Tien Lake Abandoned Water Park”. So Urbex also works in Vietnam!
