The tried and tested Crankbrothers multitool is one of the bestsellers for a good reason: With its 19 tools, you can repair almost anything that gets broken on the road. The multitool is well made and fits well in the hand. The most important functions are on board and thus the most common screws can be tightened and loosened. The Crankbrothers M19 also easily withstands high forces, such as when releasing a pedal. Spokes can also be loosened and tightened again.
The integrated chain riveter performs reliably, but a longer lever would make it easier to work with. Otherwise, the Crankbrothers multitool does almost everything right.

In the hand – Crankbrothers Multi-19
The Crankbrothers M19 multitool has proven itself to me over a long time: And also in the bike community it is one of the most popular bike multitools. The M19 has a high quality finish and the size is just right. With a weight of 175 grams it is not one of the lightest and not one of the heaviest mutitools. The weight is in the middle range. Considering the robust workmanship, this is more than okay.
Let’s look at the integrated tools: The Crankbrothers multitool comes with everything you need on tour. A complete selection of hex keys is offered, the two important Phillips screwdrivers are integrated and Torx T10 and T25 are also on board. The Crankbrothers M19 multitool is available in a variety of colors: black, red, yellow (gold), gray and a bright pink.
As an extra, the Crankbrothers multitool comes with a practical metal case. In it, the M19 finds perfect space and even if the tool is sometimes smeared, the rest inside the bike bag remains clean.

The Crankbrothers multitool lies comfortably in the hand.
✅ all tools are sturdily processed and the edges are rounded. The screws on the bike are thus protected and the multitool copes well with different types of screws.
✅ There is a screw on the side of the Crankbrothers M19: Via this you regulate how heavy or light the tools can be folded in and out. From the factory, the tools are already convenient to fold and unfold, so there’s not much to adjust at all. It can be screwed off directly 😉
Bad
❌ A chain riveter is also integrated in the Crankbrothers M19 Tool. Unfortunately, the tool is the only weak point of the Crankbrother multitool: The lever on which you hold the rivet attachment is quite short. This makes the tool quite difficult to hold when opening the chain. Even if you need quite a lot of force, you get the chain through and I can reassure you: I myself have already opened countless chains with the tool. However, other multitools are more comfortable here.

Conclusion – Crankbrothers M19 Multitool
The Crankbrothers M19 is one of the best bike multitools. The multitool is well thought out from front to back. With a large selection of tools and a practical storage case, the multitool convinces. No matter if it’s a small or a big repair on the roadside: With the Crankbrothers M19, your bike will soon be ready for use again. A few grams more than most multitools it brings to the scale and the chain riveter is not the most comfortable. But the reliability of the M19 is right. The multitool has proven its qualities to me several times.

Alternatives to the Crankbrothers M19 Multitool
Crankbrothers M17
The Crankbrothers M17 Minitool is currently even more popular than the M19. What exactly is the difference between the two mulitools? The price of the M17 is slightly cheaper and it weighs 7 grams less. For this you do without the Phillips #1 screwdriver and the Torx T10 tool. Also, the M17 comes without the metal case and with a simple rubber band for storage. In most cases, I recommend the M19 because the price difference is really small and you get an all around better equipped multitool.
