The Topeak Hummer 2 is a slim multitool and with only 167 grams one of the lightest minitools on the market. It does not require exotic tools. The important tools for repairs on the road are still on board and thus I recommend the multitool for MTB and road bike riders alike.

In the hand – Topeak Hummer 2
The Hummer 2 Multitool is rounded and therefore lies comfortably in the hand. Enough grip you have with the tool at all times and can thus also build up large forces, while the Topeak Hummer 2 is secure in the hand. Robust is the minitool at any time: Oh when opening chains or unscrewing pedals does not twist the multitool – other multitools have broken me in these situations. Very good, then.
The multitool itself is pleasantly small and so you can also screw in hard-to-reach places. All important tools are also part of the equipment:
- Basic tools: The important basic tools are available: Allen keys the multitool has in the common sizes 2 / 2.5 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 8 mm and a Torx screwdriver can be found in the size T25. For screwing the rear derailleur, both slotted and Phillips screwdrivers are in the arsenal. So far, everything is exemplary.
- Chain rivet and nipple tensioners: The nipple tensioners in sizes 14G and G15 are integrated into one of the two tire levers. This allows an unbalance to be corrected on the move. The installed tools convince when screwing with precision and are on a similar level, as with much more expensive bike multitools. I was also able to adjust delicate screws with the tool without damaging the screw head.
✅ The chain riveter is one of the highlights of the Topeak Hummer 2 – other multitools often have weak points here. The Hummer 2 convinces here with quality and good handling: In one of the tire levers is a 4 mm Allen integrated. This allows the tire lever to be securely attached to the chain rivet. Now you have extra leverage when chain riveting. In addition, the chain change is simplified by the chain fixation hook: This holds the new chain together and you can easily close the new chain with a rivet pin. A small detail that I wish every multitool had.
Bad
❌ The only real weak point are the tire levers: Both tire levers are thin and fragile. If the tyres are tight, they will break quickly and you will end up with a flat tyre on the side of the road. In this discipline, no multitool has yet been able to convince me: I therefore expressly recommend having a separate pair of PEDROS tire levers with you. In my opinion, these are the only true tire levers and they do their job over and over again with flying colors. It is easy to cut yourself when removing the tire lever from the multitool. With a little practice you will quickly get the hang of it and there is hardly any danger here.

Conclusion
The Topeak Hummer 2 is a super multitool. With its compact design, it is particularly suitable for weight-conscious mountain bikers and road bike riders. All important tools for repairs on the road on both MTB and road bike are available. In addition, the robust processing, as well as the pleasant handling pleases. Keyword robust workmanship: Unfortunately, this does not apply to the tire levers: These seem fragile and will quickly break off. Here you should better take a few reliable tire levers with you.
